What are clipboards made out of?

Clipboards offer convenient and sturdy writing spaces in the workplace, at home, and in the classroom. Some teachers use clipboards to display inspirational messages, procedures, or announcements around their rooms. Signs posted on clipboards are easy to switch out because of the strong metal clip at the top of the board.

Clipboard prices depend on various factors like material, size, and number. Bulk clipboard orders are often more affordable than individual clipboard purchases. Materials for today’s clipboards include wood, metal, and plastic. Some wood and metal clipboards are made from recycled content to offer a more eco-conscious choice. Plastic clipboards are available in clear and colored options.

What sizes do clipboards come in?

The average clipboard is designed to hold an 8.5-by-11-inch piece of paper easily, so it typically measures at least 9-by-12.5 inches. Larger and smaller sizes are available to those who need more or less space to write or display. Smaller clipboards are often 6-by-9 inches.

Many clipboard widths are very slim, but storage clipboards are the exception. They’re designed to hold items like paperwork and pens in a deeper space below the writing surface.

Depending on their depth, storage clipboards have one or more compartments for papers, books, and supplies, making them ideal for teachers and students who need to switch rooms but bring their supplies with them. This type of clipboard may also have self-locking latches, ergonomic carrying handles, and writing utensil holders.
