In order to prepare a wall for laying down new wallpaper, it's a good idea to use a wall scraper to make sure the wall's surface is as smooth and flat as possible to avoid crinkling and bubbling in the wallpaper. Wall scrapers are great for ridding surfaces of lingering bits of glue and varnish. Use a window scraper to scrape paint blobs and messes from windows, mirrors, tiles and other flat areas.Look for scrapers that have full-tang blades attached to handles for strength and reliability. Nylon handles are shatter-resistant for an extended life, while solvent-resistant hardwood handles stand up to paints and other chemicals. Choose scrapers with comfort-grip handles to prevent hand fatigue and discomfort and look for integrated hang holes for simple storage.

Putty Knives

The main purpose of putty knives is to spread, smooth and work putty around the edges of panes of glass when glazing windows or around other surfaces in various applications. Putty knives come in many different sizes to suit different purposes. Choose a putty knife with a smaller blade for more control. Stiff blades are better for scraping, while flexible blades are better for spreading.
