It’s helpful and efficient to keep an outpatient clinic, urgent care facility, student health facility or medical office fully stocked with a wide range of surgical supplies. Skin preparation supplies can help protect skin from infection and irritation, while surgical gloves may limit contamination. Stock up on medical tools, including forceps and scissors, lancets and needles. Additional surgical materials available include irrigation kits, tubing and syringes.

Skin Preparation Supplies

Prepare skin for TENS treatments with formulas to help enhance electrode adhesion and conductivity while protecting skin from irritation. Skin gel protective wipes form a coat to shield against the skin stripping that can occur with frequent use of tapes, skin barriers and appliances. Choose paste or spray-on silicone adhesives to help pouches and wound drainage collectors remain secure.

Surgical Gloves

Protect patients against infection with flexible surgical gloves, providing the dexterity needed during a procedure. Protective gloves help keep you safe from direct contact with chemicals or bodily fluids. Consider gloves with powder or aloe inside to protect the skin from irritation. Choose vinyl, neoprene, nitrile and other non-latex gloves for individuals with latex allergies.

Needles and Lancets

Safety lancets help protect against cross-contamination and needle injuries since the needles retract automatically and lock in a safe position. Pen-style lancets and side-button safety lancets are some of the easiest to use. Keep a wide range of gauges on hand, including ultra-thin lancets for blood sampling with a minimal amount of discomfort. Select the appropriate penetration level while helping minimize pain with an adjustable, ergonomically designed lancing device.

Medical Tools

Stock up on the medical tools to perform procedures, including forceps, neurological hammers and various types of scissors. Bandage shears help resist sticky glue to slice through bandages quickly and cleanly. There are models that can cut through clothing for emergency services or urgent care. You can choose fine precision forceps for a strong grip in a small area, or forceps with angled grips for a first aid kit. Many forceps have locking mechanisms allowing them to double as clamps.

Additional Surgical Supplies

Other important surgical supplies to keep on hand include irrigation sets, saline solution and sterile saline containers. Disposable pen lights are helpful for dilating pupils as well as shining a bright light on a work area. Stock up on tubing for draining waste bags and catheters. Select from an assortment of catheter syringes, piston syringes, feeding and irrigation syringes and nasal aspirators.
