Now is as good a time as any to put your principles into practice and start the greener living you’ve been dreaming about. From choosing eco-conscious products to making small lifestyle changes that add up to make a big difference, get started now and set an example for those around you. Establish eco-conscious habits you’ll likely keep for the long term. 

Save Energy When You Plug In

Between your smartphone, laptop, tablet, and other handheld devices, that power strip in the corner is probably full every night. Do the environmentally conscious thing and get a smart charging station that shuts down automatically once your devices are charged. Even better, check out the appliances you’re using. Most lamps are available with Energy Star ratings that provide amazing energy efficiency. You can also use LED lightbulbs, which last longer and use less energy than traditional lightbulbs. Consider smart thermostats that regulate your heating and cooling for maximum efficiency. Make smart choices for the environment, and don’t be surprised when you see your energy costs dropping as well.

Traveling from point A to point B by car is generally easy. Once you get to your destination, you park your car and forget about it. However, traveling by car doesn’t afford you the same opportunity to reduce your carbon footprint as riding a bicycle does. So, get a bike and show everyone how you live up to your greener principles as you tool around town. Bike baskets, racks, backpacks, and saddlebags let you easily carry your belongings. Enjoy the ride and get to where you’re going without using up non-renewable resources whenever possible.

Buy a Reusable Water Bottle and Water Filter

While it’s important to stay well hydrated, you may need a calculator to add up the number of plastic water bottles you go through every week. Pick up a good stainless steel, glass, or BPA-free plastic water bottle and fill it with filtered water or your favorite beverage. Get a ton of use out of it and enjoy the feel-good factor of making this eco-conscious choice.

Snuggling up with a good book is a great way to unwind. Save storage space and resources by swapping the paperbacks and hardcovers for the digital editions.
