HP EX470 MediaSmart Server Computer With AMD Live!™ And AMD Sempron™ 64-Bit Processor

If you have multiple PCs, the HP EX470 MediaSmart server computer, in a compact microtower design, helps you manage and organize your home network and protect your data. Use it to centralize your files (including music and other media) and access them from any computer on your network — or from any computer on the Internet. You can quickly and easily create a Web site to share your photos and video clips with only the family and friends you designate. And, with the EX470's storage capacity, you can automatically back up your desktop and notebook PCs that run Windows XP or Windows Vista, for the peace of mind. In the event of a failure, you can easily restore individual files or an entire PC hard drive.

The EX470 MediaSmart server is powered by an AMD 1.8GHz 64-bit Sempron processor, and features AMD Live!, for easy access to digital entertainment. It has a large 500GB hard drive, and a 512MB memory. The server connects to your home network via a standard RJ-45 Ethernet connection, supporting the wired and wireless computers on your network through a wireless router (not included). And you can easily expand the EX470's storage capacity by adding off-the-shelf internal SATA I or II hard drives (there are 4 drive bays, 1 of them occupied; additional drives sold separately). There is 1 eSATA port as well.

Once HP MediaSmart Server software is installed on a home PC, the Windows Home Server backup software automatically starts backing up that PC's hard drive every night. You can customize the frequency of backups and number of them kept.

• Incremental backups: After initial backup, only changes are backed up.
• Single-copy backup: Only a single copy of each file is backed up, no matter on how many computers that file exists in your home network.

You can designate folders that will be copied automatically onto multiple hard drives, for an additional layer of protection.
