Understanding Bleed and Safe Areas

When designing a business card, it is important to consider bleed areas and safe areas.

The bleed area is a buffer zone beyond the borders of the actual card, which allows for slight movements during the card-cutting process without affecting the final product. With standard business cards, the full size of the card including the bleed area is 3.75” x 2.25” inches.

The safe area is the area inside your card in which all your text and images should fit. The safe area of a standard business card should be at least 3.25” x 1.75” inches.

Pixel Count Is Important

Some customers prefer to upload an image when creating a custom business card. In this case, ensuring that the image is high resolution is very important.

Checking that the image you upload is at least 1050px x 600px will help you avoid this issue.
