What is a desk mat?

Desk mats, also called desk pads, are flat mats that are placed on a desk, creating a more practical working area and protecting the desk against scratches and stains. A desk mat can also create a more comfortable desk, offering slight padding against the hard surface of a desk.

Do I need a desk mat?

Desk mats can improve a workspace’s cleanliness and hygiene, as they are easy to wipe off in case of spills. Additionally, desk mats can enhance the functionality of a workspace. For example, it’s easier to move a mouse across the smooth surface of a desk mat than a desk. It’s also easier to write in pen or pencil on the smooth desk mat surface. Desk mats can be used by students, professionals, or anyone who wants a more functional desk.

What kinds of desk mats are there?

Desk mats can cover the entire desk or simply a portion of the desk, according to the size and style. Desk mats come in various materials, including leather and synthetic materials. There are also specialty desk mats with antimicrobial protection and glass desk pads that can be written on with a dry-erase marker. There are even wireless charging desk mats with built-in wireless charging devices.
