Alera® Valencia Series Bookcase/Storage Cabinet, 4 Shelves, Mahogany is rated out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by RedGreen from Can't assemble I wish I could review a standing bookcase. Looks like nice, heavy wood, real backboard as opposed to the usual cheap piece of cardboard. But it can not be assembled. The left side panel is in fact a right side panel with the holes for the kickboard on the wrong side. The two side panels are not interchangeable so a lot of drilling would be required to make it fit. I don't have the experience or the patience. Tried to get a replacement part, but the manufacturer claims it can not be shipped separately (I suspect it can not be manufactured) , so I'm returning it to officemax. They issued a RMA, but even if everything goes smoothly it's still a few hours of my life with nothing to show for, that I will never get back. Interesting fact: the illustrations in the instructions do not correspond to the parts that were included, but even if the parts were exactly as described in the instructions, I still could not assemble it. The right side panel as illustrated is wrong. If you're not scared and still fell like taking a chance, the assembly (I was able to assemble almost everything) is easy, hardware (dowes, screwbolts, connector housing, shelf support) looks like good quality. I think it would be a great bookcase if I had all the right parts, but I suspect the plant has serious quality control issues.
