The CP550SL Home and Office Series uninterruptible power supply (UPS) offers power protection for a stand-alone PC or other electronics in the home or office. It includes software (compatible with Windows PCs) that monitors AC power and safely shuts down your system if there's a power outage. The UPS offers advanced lightning protection and also guards against power surges, spikes, sags, brownouts and other power abnormalities. It is also equipped with a RJ-11 port (1 input, 2 outputs), which helps protect against surges on a phone/fax/modem line. The UPS can also be used to protect other electronics such as a monitor, printer, scanner, speakers, fax machine, CD/DVD player, and iPod.

The CP550SL has 8 grounded 110-volt AC outlets: 4 outlets have battery backup and surge protection, 4 have surge protection only. Four outlets have extra-wide spacing to fit transformer-based plugs. LEDs light to indicate wiring faults and when power is on. A circuit breaker protects against overloads, while an audible alarm sounds when the unit is running on battery power, or when unit overloads or has low power. Under half load (165 watts), the UPS can supply backup power for 13 minutes; under full load (330 watts), for 2 minutes. An RS-232 serial port and a USB port allow software shutdown of a Windows PC. The USB port is compatible with power management and shutdown features of Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

The CP550SL can be placed horizontally or vertically, and can even be wall mounted. It is backed by the manufacturer's 3-year limited warranty and a $75,000 connected-equipment warranty.
