How to Maximize Green Monday Deals

December 9, 2021

Move over, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. A good day for holiday deals and savings may come to those who wait... Until mid-December, that is.

What is Green Monday?

Green Monday is the second Monday in December (this year it falls on December 13) and is widely considered one of the biggest online shopping days of the holiday season. Coined "Green Monday" in 2007, it's the day when many shoppers realize that the shipping time for Christmas gifts purchased online is running out. Many online retailers, including Office Depot, roll out significant deals on Green Monday to entice shoppers.

Not Just for Holiday Gifts

While Green Monday falls during the holiday season, it’s not just good for scooping up gifts. You can also find great bargains on items you’ll need for your business in the months and year ahead. Double bonus: December is a great time to buy items for your business, because you may be able to write off those year-end business expenditures on your 2021 tax return—instead of having to wait another year to reap the tax savings.

What are the Green Monday Deals?

You can find all sorts of items on sale on Green Monday, but you may want to consider first focusing on larger-ticket items that you need for your business, since those are where you'll likely find the most savings. That might include items like laptops, desktop computers, and office chairs.

December is a natural time to stock up on office supplies such as printer paper, ink toner cartridges and pens you’ll need in the year ahead. But you can also consider getting your 2022 planner, tech accessories such as a computer mouse or even smart home devices for your business such as a voice assistant or business security camera on Green Monday.

And if you haven’t already, Green Monday also a great chance to get gifts and cards for your customers and employees. You can create holiday photo cards and other items such as coffee mugs customized with your business logo.

Promoting Green Monday

Beyond landing your own deals, you might consider promoting Green Monday deals to your own customers. Small businesses have just as many opportunities as large companies to promote and benefit from the shopping holiday.
