IRWIN Extractors & Sets
There's no need to lament when you break off a piece of a stud, bolt or screw during assembly work or other types of tool work. With plenty of extractors available, it's easy to remove broken studs, bolts, sockets, screws and fittings from below the surface of wood or other materials. Simply drive an extractor into the end of a broken screw or bolt and twist to remove - it's that simple! Equip yourself with a variety of hand tools and other types of tools to handle plenty of tasks around the home or office.
Spiral-Flute and Straight-Flute Extractors
When it comes to extractors, there are two main types - spiral-flute and straight-flute extractors. A spiral-flute extractor provides extra gripping power and forms a tight, secure bond as it turns, locking tightly into the desired screw or bolt. A straight-flute extractor offers slightly less locking power, but also won't expand material as it's removed, making the removal process simpler. Most extractors can be used with select wrenches or sockets, so you can establish a solid grip. Choose extractors made from high-carbon steel to withstand a high amount of pressure and torque.
Extractor Sets
When removing damaged screws and bolts is a common occurrence, select a screw extractor set, which comes with a variety of extractor sizes to accommodate a range of broken materials. A screw extractor set generally has the extractor size and recommended drill bit size etched directly onto each extractor, making them easy to identify and organize.
